the organization that provides support to family members with a gay or transgender loved one.

"Dad, I'm Gay..."

For Wendy's father Jim, hearing these words was the beginning of a long, challenging and ultimately rewarding journey.

Like many parents, Jim initially reacted with surprise, worry, sadness, disbelief, and self-blame. He felt he had nowhere to turn for support.

Jim's love for his daughter and dedication to gaining a better understanding inspired Wendy to create Families Matter. Their hope is that no family member ever has to feel alone on this journey again.

Organizational Update

At this time, Families Matter is suspending our peer mentoring service so we can evaluate our model and build our infrastructure. We look forward to serving families again soon.
